Description

Eaton ServiceRanger 4.13 diagnostic software is designed for troubleshooting and servicing supported Eaton and Eaton Cummins automated transmissions. Technicians can retrieve transmission fault codes, monitor live data, run supported service routines, review configuration information and create service activity reports from a Windows computer.

This listing includes remote installation of the available ServiceRanger 4.13 package. Functions depend on the transmission, software build and included access. Confirm the transmission model and exact operation before ordering if you require configuration changes, calibration or programming.

Important license distinction

Eaton's official ServiceRanger products are subscription-based and use Basic, Pro and Pro Plus levels. This Motorsymph Diesel listing is for the supplied 4.13 installation package and should not be assumed to include an official Eaton/Snap-on subscription, serial number, online account, updates or server access unless specifically confirmed in writing.

Eaton ServiceRanger 4 Diagnostic Functions

  • Read active and inactive transmission DTCs with supported troubleshooting information
  • View and graph live transmission data, including supported clutch, actuator, speed and temperature parameters
  • Run service routines and product tests available for the connected Eaton product
  • Perform supported clutch and actuator calibrations when the product and access level allow them
  • Review vehicle and transmission configuration settings
  • Create service activity reports containing faults, software versions, configuration and snapshot data
  • Access installed service and troubleshooting procedures
  • Perform supported calibration or software operations only when the required files, access and approved hardware are available

Not every listed function is available for every transmission or license level. Always identify the transmission before connecting and follow Eaton's on-screen prerequisites.

Supported Eaton Transmission Families

ServiceRanger 4 supports a range of Eaton and Eaton Cummins automated transmission and drivetrain products. Eaton's published product list includes:

  • Endurant HD, Endurant XD and Endurant XD Pro
  • Procision
  • Fuller Advantage Series
  • UltraShift PLUS
  • UltraShift Gen2 and Gen3
  • AutoShift Gen2 and Gen3
  • Lightning
  • Eaton Hybrid Powertrain
  • Selected VORAD collision-warning systems

AutoShift Gen1 exception: Eaton states that ServiceRanger 2.80 is required for Generation 1 AutoShift transmissions. ServiceRanger 4 should not be assumed to cover that legacy application.

Coverage and functions vary by transmission ECU, model, vehicle integration and access. Send us the transmission tag information or vehicle VIN before ordering if you are unsure.

ServiceRanger Basic vs. Pro vs. Pro Plus

Official Eaton tier Typical functions Important limitation
Basic Fault codes, data monitoring, service reports, troubleshooting and supported service routines Does not include all Pro configuration and software-update functions
Pro Basic functions plus supported calibration changes, configuration settings and product software updates Availability still depends on the connected Eaton product
Pro Plus Pro plus a separate Advantage Automated Clutch Calibration Tool The extra tool covers specific clutch-calibration/fault-code functions for Detroit DT12, Volvo I-Shift V2/V3 and Mack mDRIVE
This 4.13 package Remote installation of the supplied ServiceRanger build described by Motorsymph Diesel Do not assume official subscription, Pro Plus add-on or online Eaton access without confirmation

Compatible RP1210 Adapters

ServiceRanger 4 requires a compatible RP1210B vehicle-link adapter with the correct driver and transmission cable. Eaton's published tested list for TECU/TCM programming includes hardware such as:

  • NEXIQ USB-Link and USB-Link 2
  • DG Technologies DPA XL and DPA XL Pro
  • Noregon JPRO DLA+ and DLA+ 2.0 families
  • Cummins INLINE 6 and INLINE 7
  • Cojali Jaltest Data-Link RP1210

Programming safety: Eaton requires an approved communication adapter connected by USB when programming a TECU or TCM. Do not program over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Use stable battery support and never disconnect the interface during programming.

NEXIQ USB-Link 3 may work for diagnostic communication in an appropriate configuration, but verify Eaton's current approval and driver requirements before using it for programming. The adapter and cable are not included. See our interface compatibility finder and adapter driver page.

Computer and Internet Requirements

  • Compatible Windows computer; Windows 10 is documented by Eaton, and other operating systems should be confirmed before ordering
  • Dual-core 2.0 GHz or faster processor recommended
  • 4 GB RAM or more recommended
  • At least 10 GB of available storage
  • 1024 × 768 display resolution or higher
  • Microsoft .NET Framework required by the installed build
  • Administrator privileges for installation
  • Internet connection during remote installation and for features that require validation or updates

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Eaton ServiceRanger 4 used for?

It diagnoses and services supported Eaton and Eaton Cummins automated transmissions. Common uses include fault-code troubleshooting, live-data monitoring, service routines, reports, configuration and supported calibration functions.

Can ServiceRanger perform clutch calibration?

It provides supported clutch-calibration routines for applicable Eaton products. Detroit DT12, Volvo I-Shift V2/V3 and Mack mDRIVE require the separate Advantage Automated Clutch Calibration Tool associated with Eaton's Pro Plus package; that add-on should not be assumed to be included here.

Does ServiceRanger 4 cover AutoShift Gen1?

No. Eaton specifies ServiceRanger 2.80 for AutoShift Generation 1. Confirm the transmission generation before ordering.

Does this include an official Eaton Pro or Pro Plus subscription?

No official subscription or Snap-on/Eaton account should be assumed unless it is explicitly confirmed in writing. Eaton's official licensing is subscription-based and determines which functions are unlocked.

Can ServiceRanger work without internet?

Eaton states that its installed service procedures can be viewed without a constant connection, but an official ServiceRanger license periodically requires internet validation and updates. The behavior of this supplied package and any online services should be confirmed before ordering.

Can I program wirelessly?

No. Eaton instructs technicians to use an approved adapter with a wired USB connection for TECU/TCM programming. Wireless programming can damage the controller and affect warranty coverage.

Why does ServiceRanger say “No Eaton products detected”?

Common causes include incorrect RP1210 settings, missing drivers, no power to the transmission ECU, a data-link problem or an unsupported transmission. Follow our ServiceRanger connection troubleshooting guide.
