What is Nexiq eTechnician?
Nexiq eTechnician is multi-brand diagnostic software for heavy-duty and light/medium-duty trucks. It gives one shop a single tool to read fault codes, view live data and scan modules across the major engine, brake and transmission brands — instead of juggling a separate program for each make.
Heavy-duty coverage (HDS)
On the heavy-duty side, eTechnician covers the big diesel names: Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar (on-highway), Cummins, Mack, Volvo, Hino, Navistar, Meritor WABCO, Bendix, Haldex, Eaton, Freightliner and PACCAR.
Light and medium-duty coverage (LMT)
This is where eTechnician stands out — it also covers the diesel and gas engines in lighter trucks:
- Ford — 6.7L, 6.0L, 6.4L and 7.3L Powerstroke, plus gas engines
- GM — 6.6L Duramax and gas engines
- Dodge/RAM — 6.7L and 5.9L Cummins, plus HEMI
- Isuzu — NPR and NRR series
Generic OBD II support is included too.
Why one multi-brand tool matters

What adapter do you need?
eTechnician runs on the Nexiq USB-Link 2 / 3 or any RP1210-compliant adapter. The adapter is separate hardware and is not included with the software.
One quick limitation to know
On the heavy-duty side, eTechnician reads Caterpillar electronic engines but does not clear their codes — for that you would use CAT ET. Worth knowing before you rely on it for CAT work.
