Original Caterpillar Flash Files (12.2021) — 40 GB, 7 DVDs is the official collection of Caterpillar ECM software files used to reprogram and restore the onboard control-module software on CAT engines and machines. Technicians use these flash files together with CAT ET (Caterpillar Electronic Technician) and WinFLASH to update or reinstall the correct ECM software during service and repair.

What Flash Files Are For

• Reflash / reprogram the ECM — install the correct official software onto the engine control module
• Restore ECM software after a module replacement or a failed/corrupted update
• Apply the factory software version for a given engine and application

Flashing is performed with CAT ET and a compatible communication adapter; the flash files are the software payload CAT ET writes to the ECM.
